The last these two met, the score was Barcelona 6, Sevilla 1. Surely, the team from Andalusia would like to get their revenge and for that, they’ll have massive support from the stands of Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan. Can they beat Barcelona and make La Liga a bit more complicated? Read our Sevilla vs Barcelona prediction and betting tips to find out!
Sevilla have been doing pretty well lately and I’m not talking just about La Liga. They’ve also been terrific in Europa League, where they got themselves a place in the 1/8 final of Europa League after beating Lazio in both matches of their doubleheader.
Winning the trophy of the Europa League would be great for them but their main focus this season is La Liga. Right now, they’re at the 4th place on the table, which is the one that leads to the Champions League. It’s needless to say that they’re determined to finish the season among the top 4.
The problem is that there are a couple of teams breathing by their necks. Getafe and Alaves each have only one point less than Sevilla at the moment, while there are 8 more teams that have no more than 8 points less than Sevilla.
This means that anything can happen before the end of the season and that they could easily drop to the bottom half of the table if they don’t keep on playing well. But, if they keep on playing great, they can get even higher than the 4th place. Real Madrid have 8 points more than Sevilla, Atleti have 10.
Unfortunately, it seems it’s not going to be easy to win points this weekend because Barcelona are coming to town. Even though Sevilla are pretty good when playing at their stadium (7 wins in 11 home matches), they’re still the underdogs here.
With 7 points more than the second-placed Atletico, Barcelona are on their way to winning another La Liga title. But, their ambitions are much higher than that. They also want to win Copa Del Rey, while their ultimate goal is winning the Champions League.
They definitely have the manpower for that, but it seems that their form hasn’t been too great recently. They played draw 4 times in the previous 5 matches in all competitions. Now seems to be the right moment for switching to the fifth gear because some really tough matches are coming their way soon.
After the game with Sevilla, they’ll play against Real Madrid two times in a row, once in Copa Del Rey, once in La Liga. And soon after those matches, they will play against Lyon in the second tier of the 1/8 final of the Champions League.
For all these reasons, winning on Saturday afternoon is of utmost importance for Barcelona. You can expect Ernesto Valverde picking his best eleven to face Sevilla. And this means that you can expect to see many goals here.
- Nolito (injury)
- Maxime Gonalons (injury)

Sevilla vs Barcelona Prediction
Beating Lazio has probably made Sevilla players optimistic about their chances on Saturday afternoon, but the fact is that Barcelona is a much, much stronger team. I think we’ll see an away win here, even though the hosts might score once or twice.
