Real Madrid

So many things have changed since Los Blancos have won the Champions League 2018. First, Zidane left the post of the manager soon after the season was finished. Lopetegui came as his replacement, for which he got fired from his post of the manager of Spain national team. It’s needless to say that many Spanish supporters are still angry with him and this includes Real Madrid fans as well.

The biggest news of the summer, of course, is the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo. CR7 moved to Juventus and Real Madrid still haven’t found a replacement for him. Surely, it’s gonna be hard to find a replacement for one of the best footballers this world has ever seen, but Real will have to try.

However, as of mid-August, Lopetegui still haven’t made a big-name signing, at least not in the attack. But, he did strengthen his defense by bringing one of the best goalkeepers on the planet, Thibaut Courtois. The cost of the transfer was merely € 35M. That’s actually a pretty affordable price, considering that Real paid 10 million more for the signing of an 18-year-old forward from Flamengo.

The teenager in question is Vinícius Júnior, who’s not expected to play as a first-team player for at least a few years. Instead, Real Madrid will probably rely on more experienced players, such as Gareth Bale and Benzema.

Atletico Madrid

Unlike their city rivals, Atleti have done a wonderful job this transfer season. Actually, they now have an extremely powerful squad, which, in my opinion, has a very good chance to win La Liga. They’re strong in literally any part of the pitch and the best of all, they now have a long bench, which wasn’t the case last season when they finished second.

But, enough of La Liga, let’s see do they have what it takes to beat Real Madrid on Wednesday. This team spent more than 120 million Euro on transfers this summer, bringing in some really fantastic players. The biggest signing was Thomas Lemar, who came from Monaco for 70M. Rodri Hernández came from Villarreal for 70M, while Gelson Martins came from sporting on a free transfer.

Obviously, judging by the player quality, Atleti definitely have what it takes to put on a good fight against Los Blancos. But, there’s another thing in favor of Atletico – they have a better coach. Diego Simeone has been with them since December 2011 and during his tenure, this team has won a number of trophies, including a UEFA Super Cup trophy.

Real Madrid vs Atletico Madrid Match Prediction

In both league matches last season between these two the result was a draw. But, many things have changed since the last season. Real Madrid lost their coach and their key player, while Atletico made a number of quality signings. All considered, I think the trophy will end in Atleti’s hands.
