Scottish Premiership isn’t a too exciting competition which is why some of Celtic players would like to move elsewhere. But, doing well in the Europa League might make them change their minds. Celtic are playing in the Group B, together with Red Bull Leipzig, Red Bull Salzburg, and their first opponent, Rosenborg. In order to secure a spot in the knockouts, Celtic must not fail to win the Thursday’s game, especially because it’s played at the Celtic Park in Glasgow. But, can Rosenborg ruin their plans? Find out in this Celtic vs Rosenborg match preview, at the end of which are a couple of betting tips.
The Hoops are undisputed rulers of the Scottish Premiership, even though their ancient rivals Glasgow Rangers are back in the league and a few other teams are playing very well at the moment. Actually, Celtic are currently on the second spot in the league, with five points less than Hearts. But there aren’t many pundits who believe they won’t get back on the throne again until the end of the season.
The reason why they’re not performing at top level in the domestic league might be that they had a lot of work to do on the Euro stage this summer. First, they played a total of six games in the Champions League qualification. When they failed to qualify for the elite Euro competition, they had to play a doubleheader with Suduva in order to book a spot in the Europa League.
Although the tight schedule has certainly caused their players some problems fitness-wise, those games have done well to get them ready for the rest of the season. Celtic players now seem to be in a very good shape, winning three out of four previous games, allowing only one goal along the way.
Rosenborg played Celtic already this year in the Champions League qualifiers. The game played in Norway ended without any goals, but the one that took place in Scotland saw Celtic winning 3:1. Although they had a lead till late in the first half, Rosenborg ended up allowing three goals in that match. They have probably learned their lesson and are likely to come to Glasgow to defend with all they got.
Of course, this doesn’t mean that they won’t look for their chances from counterattacks, but I’m pretty certain Celtic will be those with more possession. Such a tactic could actually do them well, because they have some really pacey forwards in the team, plus a couple of very experienced players who know how to take their chances.
Unfortunately, their most famous player, Niklas Bendtner is struggling with a muscle injury and will probably miss the match. Or at least he’ll start the match from the bench.

Celtic vs Rosenborg Match Prediction
Celtic is a team that lost only one home game in 2018. It’s needless to say that most of the matches they played at Celtic Park were home wins. And I expect another one on Thursday. Celtic are just a better team than Rosenborg and considering how important Europa League is for them, they won’t risk anything. They will go into the match with their strongest XI and attack Rosenborg’s goal from the very first moment.
