West Ham are in a poor form at the moment, not just in the Premier League but all competitions. But, you never know when the Hammers are gonna hit someone hard. Could that be Liverpool? You better read our West Ham vs Liverpool prediction & betting tips to learn what to expect from the Monday’s duel at the Anfield!
West Ham
The year started well for them, but somewhere in the mid-January, their form plummeted. A week after beating Arsenal in the Premier League, West Ham lost to Bournemouth. A defeat to AFC Wimbledon in the FA Cup followed. And in their most recent game, the Hammers got hammered by Wolverhampton.
Id their poor run continues, they could get into trouble. Right now, they’re at a very respectable 11th place, but there are several teams hoping to overtake their position. What’s even worse is that if it weren’t for the poor run in January, West Ham would’ve been much higher on the table.
The thing is that Wolves, who are at the 7th place, have only 4 points more than West Ham. That fact itself should be enough to keep them going, but it seems as if their players haven’t been too motivated lately. And the reason for that is that they had some serious problems with injuries, the consequence of which was that some of their players had to work overtime.
In turn, everyone became tired and unhappy. And their depression expressed itself in the form of poor results. The good news is that those days seem to be over. Sure, there are still a couple of players out, but they’re on a route to recovery. Unfortunately, players like Yarmolenko, Lucas Perez, and Balbuena, probably won’t pass the fitness test for Monday’s game.
Liverpool
They slipped in the previous round, drawing 1:1 with Leicester at home. But, the good news for their fans is that Man City, their main title rivals, did even worse. The Sky Blues lost to Newcastle, which means that the Reds have increased their lead for an additional point. So, right now, they have a 5-point advantage over the second-placed Manchester City.
They were lucky that time, but they can’t rely on luck if they want to win their first Premier League title since the formation of the competition back in 1992. And this means that they need to take the game against West Ham seriously.
But, that won’t be that easy because their minds might already be set on the Champions League duel with Bayern, which takes place in approximately two weeks. Another thing that worries them ahead of the West Ham clash is that they also have a problem with injuries.
Okay, the problem is not as serious as the one that West Ham have been facing, but Liverpool will have to do without two defenders from the first team. Joe Gomez is out for the rest of the season, while Alexander-Arnold is struggling with his knee.
