Villarreal

With only 20 points after 23 rounds of La Liga, Villarreal are just one spot over the bottom. But, there’s still plenty of time left before the end of the season. And there are many teams who are just a few points away from Villarreal.

But, to get to the safe zone, Villarreal will have to improve their form. The thing is that they’ve won only 3 league matches this season, which is the smallest number of victories of all the teams in La Liga. But, they have 11 draws so far. Only two league teams have more draws this season.

Speaking of their draws, Villarreal have managed to grab points against such big teams as Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Valencia, and even Sevilla at Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan. This time, they play against Sevilla at home, which should be a slight advantage for the Yellow Submarine. The problem is that they haven’t been too great at home, having won only one game so far at the Estadio de la Ceramica.

Sevilla

Sevilla played a Europa League game against Lazio on Thursday in Rome, meaning that their players didn’t have too much time to get proper rest. This means that their manager might decide to give a couple of their key men some rest in this game.

But, Sevilla do have a pretty decent bench, with a number of youngsters looking for their chance to showcase their talents. Bryan Gil, for example, a promising 18 years old attacker might get a chance on Sunday. The same goes for Joris Gnagnon, a 22 years old defender who’s joined Sevilla from Rennes for nearly 14 million Euro.

Still, Sevilla manager Pablo Machin will probably take this game seriously and leave a couple of his most reliable players to ensure they get a good result on Sunday. After all, if they lose, they could drop to the 6th place. Another reason why Sevilla manager is likely to pay a lot of attention on this game is that his team isn’t in a great form in La Liga.

Since 2019 started, Sevilla have won only one game, while losing three and playing draw on two occasions. And when it comes to their away form in La Liga, the situation is even worse. The last time they won away from home was in September 2018.

And their score against Villarreal certainly doesn’t give them too much hope. In the previous five duels between the two, we saw four draws. On the bright side, Sevilla won once and the victory happened when the match was played at Estadio de la Ceramica.

Villarreal vs Sevilla Prediction

This is going to be a very close game and in my opinion, we’re not going to see any winners here. Instead, I think a draw is the most likely outcome, probably without too many goals.
