One of the biggest football rivalries on the planet is between the Dutch and the Germans. Netherlands

Netherlands are most likely to get relegated from the League 1 Group A of the UEFA Nations League. They’re at the third place after losing to France in the first round. In order to move one place upward, they need to beat Germany this weekend.

But, that won’t be easy as the Dutch just don’t seem to have enough good players to be considered favorites against the former world champions. Of course, they wouldn’t be in the League 1 if they weren’t good. This teams has some pretty good players, particularly at the back.

In my opinion, their, by far, best player is Virgil Van Dijk, a Liverpool defender. Actually, I think he’s the best defender in the Premier League at the moment and one of the top five defenders on the planet right now.

And he’s one of the guys responsible for a fairly low number of goals Netherlands have allowed recently. Before losing to France 2:1, the Dutch played 10 games in a row in which they conceded no more than one goal per match.

Unfortunately for their fans, the Dutch are not as good in the attack as they are in defense. The days when they had such greats as Bergkamp, Kluivert, Van Persie, and others in the team are long gone. Today, the role of scoring goals is given to attackers like Memphis Depay, Quincy Promes, Luuk de Jong, etc.

Germany

Germany had an awful time in Russia this summer. Even though they were considered one of the biggest favorites for winning the tournament, they even failed to reach the knockout stage. But, things like that can happen to anyone. The real problem is if such things continue to happen.

But, I think they won’t. This is Germany we’re talking about after all. Not only do they have a fantastic squad of players, but they also have a fantastic manager who’s been with the team for more than 12 years. He’s the man who led Germany to winning the World Cup in 2014.

And Low is bringing some of Germany’s best players with him to Holland. The bad news is that most of Germany’s best players play for Bayern Munich, a team that’s been out-of-form for the past couple of weeks. Neuer, Boateng, Kimmich, Hummels, Sule, Gnabry – all play for Bayern and this team is without a win for four rounds. This means that these guys might not be fully focused on the Dutch game, but instead be preoccupied with their club problems.

Possible Lineups

Netherlands

Cillessen – Van Dijk, De Ligt, Janmaat, Blind – Propper, strootman, Wijnaldum – Depay, Babel, De Jong

Germany

Neuer – Hummels, Sule, Kimmich, Kehrer – Can, Kroos, Muller –  Sane, Draxler, Werner

Netherlands vs Germany Match Prediction

Germany are the better team, there’s no doubt about it. The only thing that’s stopping me from betting all my money on away win is that some of Germany’s key men are playing badly in the last couple of weeks. Nevertheless, they probably won’t lose this one. And we also should not see too many goals in this match, considering that both teams are very powerful at the back.
