On April 24th, right as the season draws to a close, there will be a Manchester Derby as the two teams meet at Old Trafford. It will be some of the last games they play this year, and the tension is high. BonusBets.com looks at the current standings and the likelihood of the win being red or blue.
There seems little doubt that City will finish in the top two but whether they can lift the trophy for a second time is in doubt as Liverpool are not backing down without a fight. United, on the other hand, has made great strides after a shocking start to the season and under new manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer are fighting to finish in the top four, but again this looks far from secure as they currently fight for third or fourth with three other teams, and presently sit in sixth place.
Hosting the match United has had a bit of a Cinderella season, with rags to riches after firing manager Jose Mourinho and taking on caretaker manager Solskjaer. At first, the team had something of an unbelievable turn around in fate with every game a win, rocketing them briefly into fourth. As he left Mourinho specifically said that only a miracle could see this happen, so he had to eat his words, but sadly things haven’t quite last. Although there is no denying the tremendous job the new manager has done, the fact he is now a permanent fixture is a testament to this; all good things have to come to an end. The team saw their first losses and slipped down to sixth on the table. Points wise they remain in reaching a distance of the all-important Champion’s League places. In this game, however, they are not the bookies favourite.
It has been another strong season for Manchester City, and currently, they are locked in a battle with Liverpool for the top slot. At the moment they hold the place, but this has been changing weekly after every match with just one point separating the teams. A second season Premier League win would sit well with the team and certainly with manager Pep Guardiola, as the squad are currently in with a chance of also taking the Champion’s League Carabao Cup & FA Cup. Pulling a quadruple win would be a massive achievement. Last season they pulled a double when they also took the League Cup. Their last five games have ended in victory, and there is little doubt they are a strong team, but can they really hold their bottle and claim all four? Sky Sports is offering odds of 5/1 for the massive win. When it comes to the Manchester Derby, they are the clear favourites and predicted a win, although if the reds have their way it will be the closest fought of matches, pretty much like the top four spots on the table this seasons truth be told.
