Leicester City

Many pundits describe Leicester City as a true example of a mid-table team. They have nothing to worry about relegation, yet they’re not as good to have the right to hope for a spot in Europe. Right now, the Foxes are at the 11th place, which isn’t bad, but they could get up a couple of spots in they win this match.

Unfortunately for their fans, they’re not considered to be the favorites. Even during Mourinho era, Leicester had problems with Manchester United. In fact, they have only one victory over the Red Devils since the establishment of the Premier League.

Another problem for Leicester ahead of this game is that their form isn’t great. In January 2019, they won only one game, while losing three. They did, however, manage to get a draw mid-week against the table leaders Liverpool. It was 1:1 and the most impressive thing about their feat is that the match took place at Anfield.

It seems that the Foxes love playing when they’re considered underdogs. Among the big-name teams, they beat this season are Chelsea and Manchester City. Can they do something similar to Man United?

Manchester United

The Red Devils are without a defeat since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been in charge. Actually, they were in a streak of 8 consecutive wins until last Tuesday when they played 2:2 with Bournemouth at the Old Trafford.

That result might seem disappointing to some Man United fans, but their players showed they have a will of steel in that game. After being down 2:0 until the 87th minute, they managed to snatch a draw. And such a result has certainly given them confidence ahead of the next game.

And they need it because it’s essential for Manchester United to win as many points as possible before tough matches come their way. Their plan is to beat both Leicester and Fulham, before playing against PSG in the Champions League on 12th of February. And after the Euro game, they have a pretty tough schedule in the Premier League as well. First, they play against Chelsea, then against Liverpool.

All of this means that Man United are determined to take care of the “easy work” before the hard work comes. But, this also means that by rushing towards Leicester goal, they’re gonna leave their back exposed. And that’s something the Foxes can take advantage of.

Leicester vs Manchester United Prediction

Since Solskjaer’s been in charge, Man United have been playing attacking football. And that’s the kind of tactic Leicester are good against. The Foxes are great at defending, which is proven by the fact that they allowed only 30 goals this season. Only 3 other teams have allowed fewer goals.

They’re also great at set-pieces, as well as great at counter-attacks, so if they score a goal or two on Sunday, I won’t be too surprised.
