Leicester vs Manchester City Prediction & Betting Tips

The League Cup a.k.a. EFL Cup a.k.a. Carabao Cup is a knockout competition in which 92 English clubs take part. Right now, there are only 8 teams left, two of which are Leicester City and Manchester City, who meet this Tuesday evening in a battle for the semifinal. The match will take place at Leicester’s King Power Stadium, where the hosts will probably give their utmost to get through the Final 4 for the fact that the winner of this competition gets a place in the Europa League. But, can they beat the mighty Man City? Maybe this Leicester vs Manchester City prediction and betting tips have the answer!

Leroy Sane , Manchester City

Leicester City

Leicester aren’t doing too bad in the Premier League, but they are far away from the positions that lead to Europe next season. The Foxes would surely love to play in the Europa League and the easiest way to get there seems to win the League Cup. Easiest might not be the right word, as they’re taking on one of the strongest teams in the world. Still, considering that Man City might be occupied with what’s going on in the league, Leicester are probably very hopeful of a good result.

The quarter-finals of the League Cup are single-legged matches, which means that the Foxes have a slight advantage over Man City for the fact that the match is played at their turf. And the King Power Stadium in Leicester is the place where they’ve always been a tough nut to crack.

Still, this season their home form hasn’t been that impressive. At least not in the Premier League. In fact, they won only 3 games out of possible 8. But, one of those happened on the first day of December when they beat Watford 2:0.

Of course, Watford can’t be compared to Man City in terms of player quality. However, in this game, Pep Guardiola might decide to give some of his key men a rest. And this means that Leicester City will get their chance to win the game.

Manchester City

The reason why I think Manchester City will not play with their best eleven is that they need to focus on the Premier League. The thing is that they’re currently second, behind Liverpool, a team that seems to have no intention of slowing down.

And considering that Man City are playing Liverpool in two weeks, Pep Guardiola will probably do all he can to reduce the risk of injuries. Losing key men like De Bruyne and Aguero could put this team in a very bad position. Mind you, without those two guys, they lost 2:0 to Chelsea 10 days ago.

Of course, even if Guardiola picks players who haven’t been standard this season, it doesn’t mean that they stand no chance against Leicester’s best eleven. Actually, the might of Man City comes from the fact that they have an extremely long bench.

Leicester vs Manchester City Prediction

This is guaranteed to be a close game and I think we might see a draw at the end of 90 minutes. And that draw probably won’t be without goals. My hunch tells me we’ll see a 1:1 draw here.
