The most interesting duel of the Round 9 of the Premier League is the one taking place at the Stamford Bridge this Saturday afternoon. Of course, I’m talking about the duel between Chelsea and Manchester United. Although there’s been a lot of talk about the poor form of the Red Devils, they currently have only 7 points less than their next opponent. Therefore, they’ll be very motivated to do well in this game.
The Blues are currently on the third spot on the Premier League table, but they have the same number of points and the first and second-placed team, that is, Manchester City and Liverpool. Chelsea only don’t have as good goal difference as the two teams from the North of England.
And Chelsea have won their 20 points fair and square. They have a pretty decent squad this season and a manager who obviously knows what he’s doing. That’s why their odds for winning the title are constantly improving.
The Blues are without a single defeat this season, not counting just Premier League but all competitions. It’s needless to say that they won most of the matches so far. And although the entire team has been playing very well this season, the man who’s most responsible for Chelsea’s success is Eden Hazard.
The Belgian superstar has scored 7 goals already in the Premier League, which makes him the top scorer. He’s also made three assists so far and has been involved in most plays leading to goals. He really looks unstoppable at the moment, especially when getting support from the crowd of the Stamford Bridge. Hazard has scored 5 out of 7 goals this season at home.
Everyone knows that the situation in Manchester United’s locker-room isn’t fantastic. Players don’t like the manager, the manager dislikes some of them, and so on. But, they’re professionals and they need to act like ones. Both the manager and the players of Man United need to show they’re worthy of their large salaries.
They definitely have the quality to compete for a spot near the top of the table. And that’s something they showed in the previous round by beating Newcastle 3:2 after trailing 2:0 at the half time break. When they need to play well, they play well – this is what the game with Newcastle though us.
And what better motivation they need than playing against one of the best teams in the league? The bad news is that their head-to-head stats with Chelsea do not go in their favor. In fact, the last time they won at the Stamford Bridge was almost six years ago.
But, the real problem that’s bugging them ahead of this game is the fact that they have several injured players, particularly in the midfield. Herrera is out for a while and now Matic might also have to miss the match. What this means is that Mourinho will have to pick players who aren’t too speedy and agile, which makes Red Devils’ fans worry they’ll get run over by in-form Chelsea midfielders.

Chelsea vs Manchester United Match Prediction
Even if Manchester United weren’t struggling with injuries, I would still pick Chelsea to win. The Blues are just the better of the two. Plus, they play at home and have Hazard who’s been fantastic this season.
