Chelsea vs Leicester Prediction & Betting Tips

Blue Lions are wounded and the Foxes can smell their blood. After getting hammered by Man Utd in the first round, Chelsea may look like easy prey to Leicester. But, the match is taking place at the Stamford Bridge where Chelsea always play well. If you’re planning to bet on the Sunday’s clash between two former Premier League champions, we got a valuable piece of advice to you – take a look at our Chelsea vs Leicester prediction and betting tips!

Willian, Chelsea

Chelsea

This season might not prove to be the kind of season Chelsea fans would love to see. The thing is that their club is facing some major problems, the biggest of which is the transfer ban. Because of that, they weren’t able to spend big money and get a suitable replacement for Eden Hazard, who’s gone to Real Madrid.

They did sign Cristian Pulisic from Borussia Dortmund before the transfer ban came into the action, but this guy is still in his early twenties, without too much experience of playing at a high level. Therefore, he just doesn’t seem capable of filling Hazard’s boots. At least, not for the moment.

Another problem is that there was a managerial change this summer with Mauricio Sari leaving to Juventus and Frank Lampard coming from Derby County. Although he is a fans’ favourite, Lampard has zero experience of managing a top-flight club.

For all these reasons, it’s not surprising that they lost to Manchester United at the Old Trafford in the opening round of the season. What’s surprising is that they got hammered 4:0. Chelsea were the weaker team of the two, but they weren’t as bad as the result might suggest. Despite all the problems, they still have plenty of talent in the squad. This is why our Chelsea vs Leicester prediction will not go against them.

Leicester City

Even though the Foxes won the Premier League only a few seasons ago, they’re not among the favorites to do so once again. Actually, their chances of finishing among the top 6 also seem slim. They look like a true mid-table team, especially now that their arguably best player in the past couple of seasons has left to Man United.

With the transfer of Harry Maguire, Leicester received a big financial injection, however, they lost a world-class center back. And that could cause problems for them until the winter transfer window comes when they’ll be able to go shopping.

Still, in the first round, they did manage to keep a clean sheet. They played 0:0 with Wolves, with the center-back couple being Jonny Evans and Caglar Soyuncu, a youngster who played only 6 Premier League games before. The reason why they conceded zero goals in that match is that their midfielders were all over the pitch, keeping the ball in their possession for most of the time. Actually, the ball was in Leicester’s possession for 70% of the game!

However, that probably won’t be possible against Chelsea. The roles are likely to be reversed and the Foxes will be the ones to defend.
