In the 1/8 finals of Champions League, AC Milan will host Atletico Madrid tonight at San Siro.
AC Milan is in a very bad form this season. They are standing at the 9th position in Serie A, while they qualified from the Group H with only two won matches (both wins against Celtic). They have lost in Coppa Italia, in Serie A they can forget about title this season and Champions League is the only chance for them to save this season. But, with their bad performance it’s hard to believe that they could go through the 1/4 finals.
Things could be worse for them because they face with many problems with injuries and suspensions.
Cristian Zapata (19/1 d), Matías Silvestre (4/1 d), Valter Birsa (12/2 m), Bryan Cristante (3/1 m), El Shaarawy (4/0 f), Robinho (18/3 f) and Keisuke Honda (5/0 f) are all injured, while Riccardo Montolivo (18/2 m) and Sulley Muntari (16/4 m) are both suspended.
On the other side, this season could be one of the best in Atletico’s history. They are playing fantastic this season. In Primera, they are fighting for the title with Barca and Real Madrid. In the group phase they were without defeat. Atletico and Real are the best teams this season in Champions League with 5 wins and one draw.
Javi Manquillo (3/0 d), Filipe Luis (19/0 d) and Tiago (15/2 m) are all injured, but good news for the visitors: David Villa has recovered from an injury and he will play in attack with Diego Costa.
Without any doubt, Atletico Madrid is a favorite to go through the 1/4 finals of Champions League and I believe they can take an advantage tonight and beat poor AC Milan.
