Lionel Messi, FC Barcelona

Barcelona

The number 1 favorite for winning La Liga this season hasn’t been playing particularly well lately. At least, not by their standards. Barca have won only one out of previous give matches, counting all competitions. Maybe the international break has come at the right moment for them to help them forget about the poor run.

The main reason why they’re not as impressive as they were earlier this season is that some of their players got tired of playing too often. But, they’re now well rested and ready to get back on the right track. Unfortunately, some of their key defenders will have to miss this match.

Umtiti and Vermealen are out, and the same is the case with Sergi Roberto who often plays on the right-back position. This means that Pique and Lenglet will have to play the center-back roles, but if one of them gets injured, Barca manager Ernesto Valverde will be forced to substitute him with one of the defenders from Barcelona B. It’s a similar case with the right full-back position, where Nelson Semedo seems like the only suitable solution.

All of this means that Barcelona are vulnerable at the back and Sevilla are gonna try to take advantage of that. But, even if the visitors score, Barca do seem capable of striking back. With Lionel Messi in the team, as well as players like Suarez, Coutinho, and Dembele, Barcelona look capable of outscoring any opponent in La Liga.

Sevilla

Rather surprisingly, Sevilla are at the top of La Liga table. They have been playing well, but even more importantly, their biggest rivals haven’t. Their biggest success this season so far is the win over Real Madrid, in which the score was 3:0 for the team from Andalusia.

Andre Silva is the man who scored twice in that game and the reason why I’m mentioning him is that he’s Sevilla’s best player this season. He’s scored 7 goals already in La Liga, which makes him the second-best scorer in the league.

Ben Yedder has also been fantastic, scoring 5 times so far. And when it comes to their midfielders, both Jesús Navas and Pablo Sarabia have made 4 goal assists this season. Obviously, Sevilla do pose a threat to Barca’s goal, the question is will they be able to keep their net safe.

Barcelona vs Sevilla Match Prediction

I would be shocked if we didn’t see lots of goals in this match. It’s not just because both teams play a very attacking football, but also because the hosts are struggling with injuries in the back line. Over 2.5 and BTS seems certain.
