According to the bookies, it’s very likely that the Champions League winner will be one of these two teams. But, which one – Barcelona or Liverpool? The first leg of their semifinal doubleheader is taking place at Camp Nou on Wednesday and we’re up for a big spectacle. But, which team is going to be the happier one once the ref blows the final whistle? Read our Barcelona vs Liverpool prediction and betting tips to find out!
Barcelona
We’ll start this Barcelona vs Liverpool prediction by saying that Barca is the number 1 favorite to win the Champions League trophy this season. And that’s not a big surprise, considering that they got one of the best footballers in history playing in a fantastic form. You’ve guessed it, I’m talking about Lionel Messi, who’s been in a tremendous form this entire season.
At the moment, Messi is the top scorer in the Champions League, as well as the most fruitful goalscorer in La Liga. Of course, Messi isn’t the only amazing player in this squad. When you think about it, even if Messi weren’t in the squad, Barcelona would’ve still be the main favorite for winning the trophy.
Another thing going in their favor is that they’ve been in a fantastic form recently. Well, ‘recently’ might not be the right word here, because they’ve been excellent throughout the season. The last time they lost a game was in January when Sevilla beat them in the first leg of the Copa Del Rey doubleheader. It’s needless to say that Barca got their revenge in the second leg.
Liverpool
Similarly to Barcelona, Liverpool players are also playing at a fantastic level at the moment. This team has won their previous 10 matches, counting all competitions. They’ve been strong in all areas, which is why they’re in competition for not only the Champions League title, but the Premier League trophy as well.
The Reds seems strong in all areas, starting with their defense and their goalie, who have been very tough to beat. Still, it’s Liverpool attack that’s been getting the headlines. Mohamad Salah and Sadio Mane are two attackers who have already scored over 20 goals in the Premier League. They reached this milestone on Friday, when their team thrashed Huddersfield 5:0.
Liverpool also have a pretty decent record against Barcelona, having won two out of their three previous duels. But, those matches have played a long time ago, the last one in 2016. Of course, this can only mean a good thing for Liverpool, because their side has improved incredibly over the years. But, can they beat Barcelona in Spain? Barcelona vs Liverpool Prediction
There’s no doubt the doubleheader between Barca and Liverpool is going to be extremely entertaining. And I think the home support is going to play a big role in these two matches. This is the main reason why I think Barcelona will get a win on Wednesday evening. But, at the same time, I also think Liverpool have what it takes to score at least one goal at Camp Nou, which could mean a lot to them later on due to the away goal rule.
