Atletico Madrid

It’s been a while since Atleti has such a strong squad like now. They seem super-strong in literally every position. Sure, they’ve been strong in the last couple of seasons as well, but they did struggle with their bench. But, this season, they finally have a long bench with some really quality players.

Unfortunately, some of their key men will have to miss this game. Diego Costa is probably out with an injured toe, while Koke and Godin are struggling with injured thighs. It’s a similar case with Saul, who’s struggling with his knee. Still, these three will probably have to push through the pain and help their teammates against their ancient rivals.

This rivalry has been going on for 100 years and Los Blancos have been more successful. Of course, the last couple of seasons are the ones that count the most and in that period, Atleti have been a bit more successful. Actually, the previous 4 meetings finished in draw, although one of those was Super Cup, which Atleti won in the extra time.

Apart from a fairly good head-to-head history with Real Madrid, another thing giving Atleti confidence ahead of this game is that they’re playing at home. And that’s where they’re without a single defeat since the beginning of May. And in 2018/2019 season, they’re the best home team with 9 wins, 2 draws and zero defeats at Wanda.

Real Madrid

Los Blancos are very motivated to win this game, considering that they’re trailing behind Atleti by only 2 points. This means that they’d get to the 2nd place on the table if they managed to win the Madrid Derby.

They’re in a good form at the moment, even though the year started with a draw with Villarreal, followed by a defeat to Real Sociedad. But, the following 4 games in La Liga, they won pretty easily. And they also did well in the cup, playing 1:1 with Barcelona in Copa Del Rey at Camp Nou this Wednesday.

Another good news for Real Madrid fans is that they don’t have any major problems with injuries. There are a few players who are injured, but those guys probably wouldn’t be in the first XI on Saturday. Their key players are fit and ready for the big game. And most importantly, they’ve been in a really good form.

Benzema, for example, has been in a real goal-scoring mood, scoring 6 goals in the previous 5 matches. Still, the best thing is that with Real Madrid, you never know from where the danger is coming from – there are currently 14 different players who’ve scored at least a goal this season.

Atletico Madrid vs Real Madrid Prediction

Real Madrid are in a better form, but Atleti play at home, which is why I think we’re going to see a draw here. And we’ll probably see goals on both ends.
