After losing Derby Della Capitale and getting knocked out of the Champions League, AS Roma have decided to sack their manager Eusebio Di Francesco. Obviously, such a thing is always a problem for the morale and confidence of the players, which is something Empoli are hoping to take advantage of on Monday evening at the Olimpico. Can they do it? To find out, read our AS Roma vs Empoli prediction and betting tips!
The situation is bad in this part of Rome. Giallorossi are out of the Champions League after losing to Porto in the extra time last Wednesday. A game before that, they got thrashed in the Serie A by their biggest rival, SS Lazio. And in late January, the got knocked out of the Italian Cup by Fiorentina who hammered them 7:1.
Obviously, 2019 hasn’t started very well for AS Roma, but there’s still plenty of time left to salvage something out of this season. They still have a chance to finish the season on one of the top 4 spots on the Serie A table. But, for that, they need to come back in a good form.
Sacking Eusebio Di Francesco can help with that, but only if the new manager is good enough to lead them the right way. The rumor has it that Claudio Ranieri will take over the job, but that probably won’t happen on time for him to lead the team against Empoli on Monday evening. And that’s exactly what Empoli will try to take advantage of.
They’re currently only one spot above the relegation zone, above Bologna, Frosinone, and desperate Chievo. I say ‘desperate’ because it seems it’s impossible that Chievo will save themselves from relegation. But, Bologna and Frosinone still have a chance to do so. This is why Empoli would do really great with even a single point on Monday evening.
What’s giving them confidence that such a scenario is possible is not just the fact that Roma are in big problems. It’s also the fact that they’ve been in a decent for lately, at least for their standards. This team has won 5 points in the previous 5 Serie A matches, which is more than most of the other teams for the bottom half of the table.
And in those 5 games, they scored a total of 8 goals, which is pretty impressive. What’s not so impressive is their defense. In those 5 matches, they allowed 9 goals in total. Actually, Empoli are the worst team in the league when the number of goals conceded is concerned. They’ve allowed 51 goals in 26 games, which is almost 2 goals per game on average.
And the worst thing of all is that they’ve been dreadful in away matches this season. They’re still without a single win on the road, with 4 draws and 8 defeats. This surely is making their fans worried ahead of their trip to Rome.

AS Roma vs Empoli Prediction
With or without Ranieri in charge, Roma need to win this in order to stay in the competition for a place that leads to the Champions League. Dropping points against teams from near the bottom of the table is not a luxury they can afford.
