The biggest match of this Premier League round is the one taking place on Super Sunday. I’m talking, of course, about the duel between two biggest title contenders, Liverpool and Manchester City. The game will take place at the Anfield, where the Reds will try to put an end to their poor run by beating the last season’s champions. Will they achieve their plan? Maybe this Liverpool vs Manchester City match preview has the answer!
Although their recent run isn’t too impressive, Liverpool are currently second on the Premier League table, just below their next opponent. Although both teams have exact same number of points, the Reds are below because their goal difference isn’t as good as what Man City have achieved.
Before they played draw with Chelsea in the previous round, Liverpool were the table leaders. That kind of success they achieved by winning six games in a row. Unlike the last season when their driving force was Mohamed Salah, it seems that there isn’t a single player that stands out this season.
Jurgen Klopp’s boys are playing like a well-organized team that’s strong in literally every part of the pitch. And if you take a look at their stats, you will see that their strongest weapon has been their defense. It’s rather strange, knowing how big their problems at the back were last season, but the Reds have allowed only three goals in seven Premier League matches.
Of course, this doesn’t mean that they haven’t been great in the attacking department. On the contrary, with 15 goals scored, they share the second place on the list of top-scoring teams, right below Manchester City. Speaking of scoring, their most prolific player is Sadio Mane with four goals to his name. Mohamed Salah has scored one goal less.
The only time they failed to win this season in the Premier League was when Man City played Wolverhampton. Without trying to undermine their success, I need to point out that they didn’t play against too many tough sides this season. In fact, their biggest achievement in the Premier League is the win over Arsenal in the first round.
But, there’s no doubt that Manchester City have the quality to compete for another title. What may worry their fans a little bit is that they have a bad memory of duels with Liverpool. In fact, Liverpool have won every of their previous four meetings.
Things are even worse for Manchester City when the matches played at the Anfield are considered. The Citizens are without a single win over the Reds in Liverpool since 2003.

Liverpool vs Manchester City Match Prediction
With so much attacking power in both teams I have no doubt that we’re going to witness an entertaining duel. By ‘entertaining’ I mean a duel with many goals, probably on both ends. And when it comes to the outcome, I think Liverpool will win, but you can never know when such strong teams are pitted against one another. You may try double chance Liverpool/draw, but I think a safer bet is more than two goals on the match.
