EURO 2016 Summary

EURO 2016 is finished last night, when in the final match Portugal beat France 1-0 and won this tournament for the first time.

The final match didn’t start good for Portugal and their best player Cristiano Ronaldo had to leave the game after 25 minutes due to a knee injury. After regular 90 minutes and goalless draw, Eder hit the net in the 109th minute for the final 1-0 and the first trophy for Portugal in their history.

France were one of the main favorites to win the trophy and in the final match against Portugal they dominated and created few good chances, but Portugal played very tough and managed to score in the extra-time.

France forward Antoine Griezmann wins Golden Boot with 6 goals, but the record is still own Michel Platini, who scored 9 goals on EURO 1984. Cristiano Ronaldo equalled all-time leader Michel Platini record with 9 goals.

Renato Sanches has been chosen for the best Young Player of the Tournament. He edged out France winger Kingsley Coman and and Portugal team-mate Raphael Guerreiro.

Four Portugal players have made the official UEFA EURO 2016 Team of the Tournament.

Team of the Tournament (4-2-3-1): Rui Patrício (Portugal); Joshua Kimmich (Germany), Jérôme Boateng (Germany), Pepe (Portugal), Raphaël Guerreiro (Portugal); Toni Kroos (Germany), Joe Allen (Wales); Antoine Griezmann (France), Aaron Ramsey (Wales), Dmitri Payet (France); Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal).

After EURO 2016, on football betting menu are the qualifications for the UEFA Europa League and Champions League, until August when will start many major European football leagues such as Premier League (13 August), Bundesliga (26 August), Primera Division (21 August), Italian Serie A (21 August) and French Ligue 1 (August 12).
