AC Milan vs Olympiakos Match Preview & Betting Tips

AC Milan, a team that’s among the biggest favorites for winning the Europa League this season, are welcoming the Greek giants, Olympiakos. The duel between these two takes place on Thursday evening at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in Milan. The big question is can Olympiakos make a surprise and grab at least a point? Maybe this AC Milan vs Olympiakos match preview will help you find the answer!

AC Milan

Although they’re currently on the 11th place in Serie A, no one can say that AC Milan have been playing poorly this season. First of all, they have played one game fewer than most of the other teams in the top Italian flight. Secondly, they’ve lost only one game so far. And that defeat happened in the first round of the 2018/2019 season, when they played Napoli in Naples.

Since then, the Rossonerri are without a defeat not only in Serie A, but in all competitions they’re taking part in. Truth be told, most of those games finished as draws, but AC Milan did win a few pretty tough games, like the one against AC Roma, for example, or the game played last Sunday, in which they beat Sassuolo 4:1 in an away match.

AC Milan’s strength this season comes from a good team spirit, which is the achievement of their manager Genaro Gattuso who’s created a great atmosphere in the locker-room. It seems that there’s no key player in this squad – there are several guys competing for that title.

There are eighth players in AC Milan squad who have scored a goal this season. And four of those players have scored two goals already. This means that the danger to Olympiakos’ goal will be coming from all directions. But, can the Greek heavyweights handle it?

Olympiakos

Olympiakos can’t be too proud of their recent performances. Their current position in the Greek Super League is the fifth place, which isn’t too bad, considering that the season has just started. What worries their fans is that Olympiakos have been very poor in the final third.

This team has scored only two goals since mid-September, even though they played with some teams that are much weaker than them, i.e. Panionios and Levadiakos. They did, however, do very well in defense, particularly in the Europa League game with Real Betis in which they played with 10 men in the final minutes. Speaking of that game, Betis were the ones with the ball in their possession for the most of the match. The Spanish team had 13 goal attempts, but Olympiakos’ defense managed to stay unbeaten.

One of the reasons why this was the case is that Olympiakos had a massive support from the stands of their stadium. But, now, they’re gonna have to try to repel AC Milan’s attacks in front of their opponent’s crowd. Judging by their past performances on the road, it’s not going to be easy.

AC Milan vs Olympiakos Match Prediction

Here’s how the game’s gonna be played – AC Milan are gonna control the match, Olympiakos are gonna defend with all they got. What this means is that we probably won’t see too many goals. And who’s gonna win? Probably AC Milan, but I wouldn’t put too much money on that.
