In the 1/8 finals of Coppa Italia, Catania will host Siena.
Catania is standing at the bottom of the table in Serie A with only one win of their last 7 matches. Their main goal this season is to avoid relegation, so today’s cup match is not important. Catania’s coach Luigi De Canio has decided to play with many reserves and prepare for the upcoming match in Serie A against Fiorentina on Sunday.
Siena is a mid-table team from Serie B. By decision of Italian Football Association, Seina has lost 7 points. If that wouldn’t have happened they would be in the first five teams in Serie B.
Seems like Siena is very interested in Cup. In the previous two rounds of Coppa Italia they have already beat two teams from Serie A (Bologna and Livorno) and both wins were away from home. In the last 12 matches in all competitions Siena lost only once.
